Vision Statement
Core Values
At The WildLife Movement, we believe in:
Positively impacting people and the environment
We believe that giving back is an important part of a sustainable future for our environment. We work with students and teachers to develop initiatives that will positively impact their schools and communities. We also support the B1G1 initiative with proceeds from every program going back into environmental and humanitarian projects in Australia and around the world.
Inspiring Wonder and Curiousity
We believe that a sense of wonder and curiousity are essential to discovering and understanding the natural world. By sharing the wonder of the many fascinating species of plants and animals found in Australia and around the world with students and by encouraging them to continually ask questions, we hope to foster a sense of compassion and stewardship for the environment.
Encouraging Exploration and Growth
We believe that exploration is an essential part of growth. By encouraging students to explore their passions and the world around them, we hope to encourage their growth into healthy, happy and successful people who have a positive impact on the world around them.
Cultivating Imagination and Creativity
We believe that students have an an unbridled sense of imagination of what’s possible. We hope to encourage students to use their imaginations to come up with creative solutions to the Earths’ environmental challenges.
Engaging with individuals and the community
We believe that change can start with a single person, act or idea. For change to be lasting, it needs to be adopted by the community. We hope to encourage students, schools and the wider community to adopt changes to act in more sustainable ways and develop a deeper appreciation of and connection with the natural world.
Who are we?
The WildLife Movement is a movement of educators, carers, parents and children who share in the vision for a brighter, greener future. Currently, the business side of The WildLife Movement is run by Nathan Bass.
Meet Nathan Bass
My name is Nathan and I am the proud owner of The WildLife Movement.
Growing up, I loved spending time at the beach with my family and friends catching waves, exploring rockpools and scuba diving beneath the oceans surface. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to study marine biology at university, research the behaviour of sharks, work at an aquarium in the US, help build an aquarium in Australia and volunteer all around the world doing shark research, elephant conservation and wildlife rescue work. These days, you’re likely to find me hiking to a waterfall or at the beach with my best mate Hendrix (as I write this, he is currently chasing the waves and rolling in the sand!)
Over the past few years, I also worked as a teachers aide at a primary school where I found so much joy in working with children and helping them find and explore their talents and passions. I was always blown away by their unlimited imaginations for what is possible and their willingness and drive to make the world a better place.
My time spent working with animals and exploring the natural world has had a profound impact on my life, as has my one spent working with children. I started The WildLife Movement as a way to help connect children with the natural world in the hope that they would find joy and happiness in it. It is my hope that in falling in love with nature, children will want to help protect and conserve the natural world for many years to come.
